Robin Hood 100

The Robin Hood 100 starts and finishes at South Wheatley Village Hall on Sturton Road, near Retford in Nottinghamshire. The route heads along the Chesterfield Canal towpath through Retford towards Manton Pit Wood, before joining a roughly 30 mile loop through Clumber Park and Sherwood Forest, passing the famous Major Oak and taking in sandstone villages, Creswell Crags and the Welbeck Estate. This forest loop is completed twice, typically once in daylight and once in darkness, before runners retrace the canal towpath back to the finish. The terrain is nice underfoot, runnable trail and towpath throughout, relatively flat with only steady undulations and no major climbs, making it a genuinely fast course for the distance. Well-stocked aid stations, drop bag points and a 30 hour cut-off support runners, with pacers permitted from around mile 51. Held every other year, it's a popular choice for first-time and experienced 100 milers alike.
