About this race

The Sandridge 10K Trail Run starts and finishes on the playing field at Sandridge Primary School, on Woodcock Hill in the village of Sandridge, near St Albans. From there the route heads out into the surrounding Hertfordshire countryside, following a scenic trail predominantly off-road across paths, tracks and woodland terrain rather than tarmac roads. Runners should expect uneven footing and typical trail features underfoot, with the course sharing space with walkers, cyclists and horse riders along the way. The route loops back through the village to finish where it began at the school field, which also serves as race HQ on the day. A shorter family fun run takes place alongside the main event. Set within the rolling Hertfordshire landscape close to the historic Roman city of St Albans, the race has a strong community feel, supported by the parish council and run in aid of local charities.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
