About this race

The Wilne 10K is a scenic, flat and fast road race based at Brookfield Farm on the edge of Draycott, set at roughly the halfway point between Derby and Nottingham. The traffic-free route starts on Sawley Road and takes runners on a single loop through the quiet, closed rural lanes around Draycott and the surrounding Derbyshire countryside before returning to the race village. With only a few metres of elevation change across the whole course, it is regularly described as one of the flattest 10Ks in the country, making it a firm favourite among those chasing a personal best as well as newcomers tackling the distance. Organised as part of the RunDerby Race Series and chip-timed throughout, the event is well marshaled, popular enough to sell out each year, and hosts the Derbyshire Athletics 10K Championships.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
