About this race
The Flying Monk Malmesbury 10k starts and finishes at the Flying Monk Ground, home of Malmesbury Victoria Football Club, on Gloucester Road in Malmesbury, Wiltshire. The single-lap route heads out through the historic town and the surrounding villages on quiet, open country roads. A distinctive feature of the course is a stretch of around 1.5km run along the "Old Fosse Way", the oldest Roman road in the country, giving a brief off-road section within an otherwise tarmac route. The profile is undulating rather than flat, reflecting the gently rolling Wiltshire countryside around the town. Now in its thirteenth year, the race is chip timed with kilometre markers throughout and forms part of the annual Malmesbury Carnival celebrations, held in association with PD Fitness and the football club. Every finisher receives a medal and either a free cider or mimosa at the finish, alongside on-site catering and a bar.
