About this race
The Overton 5 starts and finishes near Overton Recreation Centre on Bridge Street in Overton, Hampshire, with the start a short walk from the finish and race HQ. The five mile route winds through the rolling country roads surrounding the village, taking in landscapes once enjoyed by Jane Austen, who lived nearby and drew inspiration from the area for her early novels. The course runs on fully closed or traffic-managed roads throughout, giving a safe, largely traffic-free experience despite the rural setting. The terrain is genuinely hilly rather than flat, with sweeping views across the countryside compensating for the effort of the climbs. Organised by Overton Harriers AC as the second fixture in the Hampshire Road Race League, it's a plastic-free event, with free kids' races held on the field at race HQ alongside the main event. Now in its 37th year, every finisher receives a race memento.
