About this race
The Tunnel Vision Dawn Run is an out-and-back 5 mile race starting off Scotland Road in Market Harborough, behind the Protheroes garage, early on Friday morning. The route follows the Brampton Valley Way, a disused railway line, out along a flat, hard-packed track before turning back the way it came. The defining feature is the 422 metre Oxendon Tunnel roughly halfway along the route, a long, pitch-black former railway tunnel that runners pass through twice, once in each direction. Mood lighting is installed inside the tunnel, but a head torch is still required to run through it safely. Starting before sunrise, the Dawn Run has the added bonus of watching daylight break over the Brampton Valley as the race unfolds, giving it a calmer, more scenic character than its Thursday evening counterpart. Finishers are rewarded with juice and a croissant at the end.
