About this race
The Staffin Triathlon & 10K Run takes place on the Trotternish peninsula on the north-east coast of the Isle of Skye, sharing its base with the accompanying sprint and super-sprint triathlons. The 10k run starts and finishes close to Staffin Community Hall, at the junction of the A855 and Garros Road, and follows an out-and-back format along Garros Road itself. This is a single-track country road, giving the course a rural, exposed character with ample space for any passing traffic to overtake safely. Runners cover the same stretch of road twice, once heading out and once returning, with the dramatic outline of the Trotternish Ridge rising above throughout. The terrain is entirely tarmac, and the course profile follows the gentle undulations typical of Skye's coastal roads rather than sustained climbing. The event is set against Staffin Bay, drawing runners to this remote corner of the Highlands each summer.
