About this race
The Foxton Hound Ultra 100k starts and finishes at Winwick Hall in Northamptonshire, taking runners on a longer trail journey through the countryside surrounding Market Harborough. The route follows the Harborough Round, a network of long-distance footpaths crossing Northamptonshire and Leicestershire, including the Jurassic Way, the Leicestershire Round, the Macmillan Way, the Midshires Way, the Richard the Third Trail and the Uppingham Round. Runners pass through Cottesbrooke early on before continuing through varied countryside and villages, taking in places of historical and cultural interest such as Foxton Locks, the Naseby battlefield, and the Kelmarsh Tunnel on the Brampton Valley Way. The terrain is predominantly off-road trail, with decent elevation gain balanced by some enjoyable downhill stretches. Seven checkpoints provide hydration, nutrition and hot food along the way. The course is well-marked with tape and arrows, though runners are expected to be able to self-navigate throughout this demanding ultra distance.
