About this race
The Kingston Half Marathon starts and finishes in the historic Kingston Market Place, in the heart of Kingston upon Thames. From the Market Place, runners spend the opening five miles winding along flat, tarmac streets towards Teddington Lock, before crossing the historic Kingston Bridge. The route then follows the scenic Barge Walk alongside the River Thames for around three miles, passing the magnificent Hampton Court Palace. Runners continue through the village of Thames Ditton before turning back towards Kingston, finishing once again in the bustling Market Place. The course is largely flat and fast, run on a mix of traffic-free paths and road sections, making it a popular choice for runners chasing a personal best. The Market Place finish offers a lively atmosphere, with food stalls, live music from an on-stage DJ, and crowds of supporters cheering finishers home.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
