About this race
The Hardmoors 26.2 Roseberry Half Marathon is a circular, self-navigated route starting and finishing at the Sea Cadets Hall in Guisborough, North Yorkshire. The course takes in a shorter loop of the North York Moors around the distinctive summit of Roseberry Topping, covering genuinely exposed moorland trail rather than sheltered woodland paths. The terrain crosses open, often boggy ground, and while the compulsory kit list is less extensive than the full marathon's, waterproofs and suitable trail footwear are essential. As with all Hardmoors 26.2 races, the route is not taped or signed beyond the trickiest sections, so runners navigate using a downloadable race description and course map rather than course markers. Marshals are positioned at road crossings, with foot sweepers covering the back of the field. It's a proper test of self-sufficiency and navigation as well as fitness, set in dramatic North Yorkshire moorland scenery.
