About this race
The Two Tunnels Marathon starts and finishes at Brickfields Park in Bath and is run over two laps of the "City Ticket" half marathon course. Runners head out through both the Devonshire and Combe Down railway tunnels before following the Kennet & Avon Canal into the heart of the city, passing Sydney Gardens, Cleveland House and Pulteney Bridge, with the route running close to Bath Abbey and Pulteney Weir. The surface is a solid mix of tarmac, canal towpath and riverside path rather than trail, and the course is flat throughout, though not officially measured for record purposes. With nine feast stations on course and a three-hour cut-off to start the second lap, it combines the city's grandest architecture with its hidden underground tunnels, giving runners a genuinely unique tour of Bath across the full marathon distance.
