About this race
The c2c Essex Ultra 10 mile starts at Benfleet station and finishes at Thorpedene Primary School in Shoeburyness, near Southend-on-Sea, joining the final stretch of the longer 30 and 50 mile routes. New for 2026, the course heads east along the Essex Riviera, closely following the c2c rail line and the England Coast National Trail through Leigh-on-Sea, Chalkwell and Westcliff before reaching the finish. The terrain is mainly tarmac with some hard trail sections, taking in seafront promenade and coastal path along the way, with sea views for much of the route. Checkpoints along the course offer food and drink, with tea, cake and free finisher photos at the end. As the shortest and most accessible of the three distances, it's designed to bring in newer entrants alongside the club and event's usual ultra-distance regulars, with free c2c train travel included on race day.
