About this race

The Cotswold Classic starts and finishes at The King's School on New Yatt Road in Witney, West Oxfordshire. The single-lap, ten mile course winds out through the surrounding Cotswold villages before returning with a fast finish back into Witney. Organisers describe the profile as "fundulating" rather than flat, reflecting the gently rolling countryside typical of this part of the Cotswolds, with enough undulation to test runners without any single severe climb. The route is entirely on road, run on quiet country lanes away from heavy traffic, with course marshals supporting runners at every junction. Organised by Witney Road Runners, the race has been part of the Oxfordshire running calendar for over 30 years and counts as an Oxfordshire Grand Prix event. Entries are strictly capped with no on-the-day sign-up, and the race regularly sells out well before its August closing date, reflecting its enduring popularity among local and visiting club runners alike.
