About this race
The Chatsworth 10K starts and finishes within the grounds of Chatsworth House, the stately home near Bakewell in the Derbyshire Peak District. The chip-timed course is a genuine mixed-terrain challenge, combining tarmac, grass and estate tracks, with some flat sections but around 217 metres of elevation gain over the full distance. Because the route runs across grass and uneven ground, organisers note that the 10K distance is approximate rather than precisely measured. The course winds through the parkland surrounding the house, giving runners sweeping views of the estate and its famous grounds throughout. A 3K fun run for children and adults follows the main event on the same terrain, making it an accessible family day out as well as a serious challenge for competitive runners. Held in aid of Blythe House Hospice, the race has raised significant funds each year since it began in 2008.
