About this race
The Big Half starts next to Tower Bridge and finishes beside the historic Cutty Sark in Greenwich, on a flat, fast, road-closed course through south east London. The point-to-point route heads east through Canary Wharf, Wapping, Bermondsey and Rotherhithe before crossing into Deptford and on to Greenwich, passing through four boroughs: Tower Hamlets, Southwark, Lewisham and Greenwich. The surface is entirely tarmac road, with around 218 feet of elevation gain over the full 13.1 miles, giving a genuinely quick profile for a course through the heart of the city. Alongside the individual half marathon, the event includes the Big Relay for teams of four and the free, non-competitive Big Mile. Organised by London Marathon Events, it celebrates the diversity and community of the boroughs it passes through, finishing in Greenwich Park with a lively event village and views back across the Thames.
