About this race
The Brighton Marathon starts at Preston Park and finishes at Hove Lawns, taking runners through the vibrant streets and seafront of Brighton and Hove. The route heads into Withdean before turning back towards the city centre, passing the Royal Pavilion and heading up into Kemptown, then following the coast out to Ovingdean. From there the course turns back for sweeping views of the city, running along the promenade and into Hove before finishing at the beach village. The surface is entirely tarmac road, and the course is largely flat, with around 477 feet of elevation gain over the full distance, making it well suited to first-timers and PB-chasers alike. Part of a full weekend that also includes the Brighton and Hove 10K and Brighton Miles, the event is renowned for its roaring crowd support and forms one of the UK's largest and most popular marathons.
