About this race

The Blue Castle Run is a 7 mile trail race starting and finishing at The Blue Pool nature reserve near Wareham in Dorset, with a shorter 3 mile option also available. Both distances open and close with a lap around the blue-tinted waters of the pool, before heading through the Furzebrook Estate and the wider Purbeck countryside. The longer route takes in ancient woodland trails, heathland, hills, ridges and valleys, with views towards Corfe Castle along the way, while the 3 mile course covers similar ground on a flatter, less demanding profile. The terrain is genuine off-road trail throughout, on tracks through woods and heath rather than roads. For 2026 the organisers are running the course in reverse for a fresh take on the route. It's a cup-free event, so runners bring their own bottle for the aid station, and it forms the final race of the Purbeck Trail Series.
