About this race
The Pilgrim's Reckoning is an 81 mile ultramarathon starting and finishing at Bedford Greenacres Independent School on Manton Lane in Bedford. The course forms a single continuous loop around Bedfordshire, following the historic Bunyan Way, a route inspired by John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress that links towns, villages, farmland and ancient trackways across the county. The terrain is a genuinely accessible mix of open countryside, rolling farmland, woodland trails and road sections, with long, highly runnable stretches and no technical sections, though there are a few gentle hills along the way. Total elevation gain over the full loop is around 1,219 metres. Runners have 24 hours to complete the circuit, supported by six aid stations, experienced staff and comprehensive medical cover, with the whole event waymarked using the official Bunyan Way signage. As a brand new fixture, it's establishing itself as a standout addition to the UK ultra calendar.
