About this race

The Haytor Heller is a six mile fell race starting and finishing below the iconic Haytor Rock on Dartmoor, opposite the middle car park. Now in its 40th year, the single-lap course crosses rugged, open moorland throughout, with several steep ascents and descents and a stream crossing along the way. Two short sections pass through woodland, first below Hound Tor and then again below Haytor near the finish, before a fast downhill scamper back to the line. The course is entirely off-road, run on rough moorland ground rather than any prepared trail, making sturdy fell shoes essential. A strict cut-off applies at the top of Hound Tor, around four miles in, with drinks available there and at the finish. Organised by Teignbridge Trotters and capped at 350 entries, it's a classic, well-established fixture and scoring event in the Dartmoor Fell Series.
