About this race
The Aberfoyle 10k Trail Run starts from the car park in the village of Aberfoyle, on the edge of the Trossachs and Queen Elizabeth National Park in Stirlingshire. From there the route heads out onto a mixture of trails, single track and unmade ground, looping round Lochan Spling and passing the well-known Faerie Tree Hill before continuing over to Lemahamish and back towards the village. The terrain is undulating throughout, climbing and descending gently rather than featuring one sustained ascent, and runners should expect a genuine off-road trail experience rather than a fast, flat course. The whole route is fully marked and marshalled, though participants are reminded they remain responsible for their safety on the unmade sections underfoot. Set within the forests and lochside scenery of the Trossachs, the race combines a scenic, wild backdrop with a community feel, and all profits from entries go to support Aberfoyle Primary School.
