About this race
The Summer Green Man Ultra 30, affectionately known as The Green Boy, is a partial clockwise loop of the Community Forest Path, starting at The White Horse pub in Hambrook and finishing at Ashton Park School just outside the centre of Bristol. Runners join the same course used by the 45 mile event partway around, sharing checkpoints and the same finish line while covering a shorter section of the loop. The route is a genuine mix of forest track, canal towpath, open parkland and country lane, with around 2,657 feet of elevation gain over the full distance. Being the summer edition, the course runs in the opposite, clockwise direction to the winter event, with firmer, faster underfoot conditions than the often muddy winter race. Two well-stocked checkpoints support runners along the way, with chip timing throughout, making it an accessible entry point into ultra distance running around Bristol.
